From June 5-29, 2024, the Main Library will exhibit “The Art of Hope for the Flowers” in its gallery space. This exhibit showcases the art of Montclair’s Trina Paulus, author and 93-year-old environmental activist. An opening reception will take place on June 6 from 5:30-7:30 pm.
The book “Hope for the Flowers” has sold over 4 million copies in English and has been translated into 15 languages across the globe. For over 50 years, Paulus’s art and her book have invited viewers to contemplate the struggle, sacrifice, and strength it takes to become one’s true self.
“We are honored that Trina is sharing this exhibit with us. We hope you will take time out of your busy day to walk through the gallery and enjoy the story,” says Library Director Janet Torsney.
Special author events will be held on two Saturdays, June 15 and 29, starting with an author tour of the exhibit at 12 noon, followed by presentations in the Auditorium from 1-5 p.m. These will include a storytime for children of all ages, a session for people to share stories of hope, author Q&A, and a reading of “Hope for the Flowers” in several languages.
Exhibited art will be sold with a portion of proceeds going to the Montclair Public Library. During the exhibit, signed copies of “Hope for the Flowers” will be available for purchase online using a QR code. The author will also have physical copies available for purchase on June 15 and 29. Reading copies can be borrowed at the front desk.
