Homeschooling Resources

The Montclair Public Library has partnered with homeschooling families since 2000. We started by asking what service could the Montclair Library provide that families needed and from 2001 until the recent closure of the Library due to COVID-19, homeschooling families were welcomed at monthly open house type events allowing for networking, socialization, and family led programs.

If you would like to be on our homeschooling contact list, have suggestions or questions, please email Enola Romano, Senior Youth Services Librarian, at

Other networking groups in the Montclair area include the Essex County NJ Homeschoolers on Facebook, and for teens try Teen Homeschoolers of NJ, also on Facebook.

Print material on Homeschooling can be accessed here. Currently, only Montclair Public Library cardholders may pick up materials at the Library. BCCLS cardholders may request items. All other cardholders should call ahead to determine access.

The NJ State Department of Education maintains a FAQ page on Homeschooling.
