Montclair Supports Reading

A town-wide initiative to cultivate readers, empower parents, and support our schools.

READ ALL ABOUT IT! Montclair Supports Reading

Welcome to our vibrant town-wide initiative designed to spark a love for reading across all ages. In partnership with Montclair Public Library, Montclair Public Schools, and the Montclair NAACP, we are embarking on a journey to cultivate avid readers, empower parents with resources and support, and strengthen our schools’ literacy programs.

Our mission is to harness the collective power of our community, leveraging the science of reading to open new worlds for every learner. From engaging book lists and early literacy kits to enriching programs and events, we’re here to guide you through a universe of reading possibilities.

Dive in with us as we explore, learn, and grow together through the magic of reading.

The Science of Reading

At the core of our community’s literacy initiative, the science of reading encompasses a comprehensive approach that combines phonics, phonemic awareness, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension strategies. It’s more than just a teaching method; it’s a movement towards empowering every individual with the tools and understanding necessary for reading success.
