Library Invites Families to “The Little Read” Events in Support of Literacy

Free community events will take place on October 14 and 15

MONTCLAIR, NJ (October 11, 2022) — The Montclair Public Library invites everyone to attend the 14th annual “Little Read,” a series of events in which guest readers from the community climb into an iconic big red chair and read stories aloud to schoolchildren and families. This celebration of literacy encourages sharing stories, building community, and cultivating a love of reading. Funds raised through sponsorships, organized by the Montclair Public Library Foundation, support children’s programming at the Library throughout the year, including the Summer Reading program.

“The big red chair, Little Read storytellers, and festive reading celebrations are something Montclair families look forward to each fall,” says Library Director Janet Torsney. “Everyone’s welcome to join in the fun!”

The Little Read begins with classroom visits and culminates in the following events, which are free and open to the public. The books selected for reading aloud are aimed at audiences in preschool through grade three.
