This year’s Summer Reading Club runs from June 25 to August 25, 2024. Kids and teens, be sure to log your days and adults, be sure to enter your books! A physical log is also available for you to print out, but be sure to enter your days/books into Beanstack to be eligible for prizes!
All prize selections and virtual drawing tickets must be entered by September 3. All grand prizes will be selected on September 6 and participants have until October 1 to collect their prizes.

The Children and Teen Summer Reading Clubs are open to youth ages 0-17 years old. The best part of Summer Reading is you get to choose what you read – EVERY BOOK COUNTS! Set a personal reading goal (example: 30 minutes, 1 hour, etc.) and log it in the Beanstack app. For every 10 days you read and log, you earn the following:
The Adult’s Summer Reading Club is open to adults aged 18+. Register and log at least one book to receive a drawing ticket for one of our grand prize drawings!
Virtual Drawing Tickets are redeemed through your Beanstack account. You can earn additional tickets by completing activities, like attending programs! Don’t forget to add your tickets to one of the Grand Prize options!

“Summer break is typically a time for kids to kick back, indulge in a little extra screen time, play outside, and embrace the kind of freedom that only comes with being young and having zero responsibilities. However, all of this free time can lead to the summer slide, a regression in academic proficiency due to summer break, and experts warn it is hindering kids’ progress when they head back to school.
The concept of the summer slide has been on researchers’ radar since at least 1996, when one of the first comprehensive studies on the phenomenon was published. The study showed that kids lose significant knowledge in reading and math over summer break, which tends to have a snowball effect as they experience subsequent skill loss each year. A more recent study of children in 3rd to 5th grades also showed that students lost, on average, about 20 percent of their school-year gains in reading and 27 percent of their school-year gains in math during summer break.”
