Montclair Public Library 2025 Library Card Design Contest

Montclair Public Library is excited to invite community members to get creative this September for Library Card Sign-up Month by participating in a library card design contest! Whether you’re a budding artist, a graphic designer, or simply a library lover with a great idea, this is your chance to have your artwork featured on the newest library cards.

Winners in each Library card age category (Children, Teen, Adults) will have their designs printed as official limited edition library cards, available to patrons later this year. Winners will also receive a larger-than-life version of their library card at a special unveiling ceremony, and of course, bragging rights!

Submission Period: September 5–October 5, 2025

Community Voting: October 12-17, 2025 *Note: Community voting has been delayed and will run from October 17-24*

Who Can Enter: Open to all residents of Montclair, NJ of all ages (children, teens, and adults)

Design Guidelines:

  • Artwork should reflect the spirit of reading, learning, community, or the library itself.
  • Submissions must be original, creative, and not subject to copyright restrictions or ownership by another individual or organization.
  • Content must be suitable for all ages.
  • All designs must utilize the Library-provided design template.
  • Digital and hand-drawn entries accepted.

Submission Rules:

  • Open only to residents of Montclair, NJ
  • Limit one entry per person. 1 selected winner for child, teen, and adult cards.
  • All entries must be submitted by Sunday, October 5, 2025 at 5 PM. Late submissions will not be accepted.
  • You may submit your hand-drawn design in-person at either of the Montclair Public Library’s locations: 50 South Fullerton Avenue or 185 Bellevue Avenue.

Judging and Winners:

  • Entries will be judged based on creativity, originality, and visual impact.
  • Designs will be judged by library staff who will select top designs to be voted on by the community.
  • Winners will be announced in November with a special unveiling celebration.
  • Winners will have their design featured on a limited-edition library card.

Additional Rules:

By submitting a design, you grant Montclair Public Library the right to reproduce and use your design for promotional purposes. Designs will not be returned and all decisions made by the judging panel are final.

Library Card Design Contest Winners

New library cards can be picked up by patrons starting in December. If you are an existing library card holder and you would like one of the new designs, you will need to pay the library card replacement fee of $1.
