MONTCLAIR, NJ (September 1, 2026) — This September, the Montclair Public Library is celebrating Library Card Sign-Up Month with a community-wide initiative designed to support both local readers and local businesses. Through the new “Library Card Local Perks” promotion, cardholders can turn their library card into an exclusive local discount card all month long.
By presenting a valid Montclair Public Library card at participating shops, restaurants, and gyms across town, residents can enjoy special discounts and free add-ons from September 1–30, 2026.
This celebration of Library Card Sign-Up Month highlights that a Montclair Public Library card goes beyond books and digital resources and serves as an easy pathway for residents to engage with and support the entire Montclair community.
“We wanted to create a program that celebrates the value of library membership in a tangible, daily way while giving back to the local small businesses that make Montclair thrive,” said Library Director Radwa Ali. “A library card is already the most valuable card in your wallet—giving you access to books, technology, educational resources, museum passes, and so much more. “Library Card Local Perks” adds one more reason to carry it with pride.”
Participating businesses include Acorn General Store, CycleBar, Diesel & Duke, The General Store, Hardbodyz Fitness, Mattarello Bakery & Café, Pulse House, Rebel Core Pilates, Salad House, Tacoria, Toastique, Van Hook Cheese & Grocery, and Yarnia. To see a full list of perks offered this September and how to claim them, visit montclairlibrary.org/localperks2026.
Signing up for a library card is completely free for all Montclair residents as well as students and employees who learn and work in Montclair. Residents can register in person at either library branch or initiate their application online at montclairlibrary.org/services/library-card.
